THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER – WHAT FIGHT?
After reading and hearing
about the ‘fight against cancer’ hundreds of times, you may wonder what
exactly is that ‘fight’ , whether it really exists or is it part of a
meaningless sentence?

It would be very difficult, if not impossible, for any one
to find a person who’s fighting against cancer. We can certainly find
individuals who are suffering from cancer, or at least believe they are
suffering from that terrible disease. Those individuals are not
fighting anything; they are passively going along with the suggestions
of those who are supposed to know better about it. That is not a fight.
It’s generally more like an acceptance of defeat.

My work as a Spanish and
English translator as well as the work of any other
translator, consists of closely expressing other people's ideas,
opinions and other doings. This is the nature of our job and there's
nothing wrong with it. It can be added that while translating, we have
learned a few things and have formed our own opinions with respect to
the
subjects we deal with.
The advancement of the
Internet and means such
as
personal blogs have allowed us to combine translation as a job,
with the expression of our own ideas. It is always possible that our
writing will appear to be controversial. This possibility arises from
the fact that writing no longer has to be regimented by editors who
must
conform to the tune imposed by the commercial interests of
their bosses.
Natural expression may be
pungent, but will certainly
encourage some people to transform a restricted view into a somewhat
more expanded and worthwhile one.
